Boom in Aviation in the Era of Wanderlust

The Boom in Aviation in the Era of Wanderlust
-          Debasmita Das

The Boeing Company, Airbus SE, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Textron Inc., and United Aircraft Corporation are the massive players of this industry, integrating the industry with the desire of creating a picturesque desire.
According to the latest edition of IATA’s 20-Year Air Passenger Forecast, Asia Pacific will be the biggest driver of demand from 2015 to 2035 with more than half of the new passenger traffic coming from the region. China will replace the US as the world’s largest Aviation market (defined by traffic to, from and within the country) around 2024. India will displace the UK for third place in 2025, while Indonesia and Japan will be ranked 5th and 7th respectively.

Of the five fastest-growing markets in terms of additional passengers per year over the forecast period, four will be from Asia.

1.       China (817 million new passengers for a total of 1.3 billion)
2.       US (484 million new passengers for a total of 1.1 billion)
3.       India (322 million new passengers for a total of 442 million)
4.       Indonesia (135 million new passengers for a total of 242 million)
5.       Vietnam (112 million new passengers for a total of 150 million).
By 2035, an additional 1.8 billion annual passengers will be transported to, from and within Asia Pacific for an overall market size of 3.1 billion. The region will also grow by 4.7% annually.
Considering the Data isn’t convincing, then as well, the idea of wanderlust, and beautiful destinations for travel and retreat, has been engraved really positively in the Gen Z era of wanderlust. The Aviation deals with not only the profession of being a pilot but also satisfies the crAvings of being rediscovering travel as a passion.

The Air service is used to be a luxury choice but, the Air service has become a necessity now. Thus, the demand for Air travel service have become relatively inelastic. In Southeast Asia, the Aviation players carry on to post several of the highest growth rates in global Aviation industry which is mainly driven by expansion in the Southeast Asia low-cost sector (CAPA, 2013). This shows that the market has a high demand in Air service. Hence, this forms an oligopoly market as a few of major Airlines compete to have bigger share of market.
The professions involved with the Aviation industry are respected and necessary. In such a dynamic, fast paced industry, a job in the Aviation industry means that it’s a part of a bigger picture, helping to keep things moving and keeping up with the speed at which things happen. Working for an Airline or Airport then, doesn't seem to be a boring, stagnant job but one that offers variety on a daily basis, not least with the people. This is another big reason why candidates are drawn to working for an Airline or Airport because it gives them the opportunity to meet new people on a daily basis. Those that work in Airports enjoy the chance to meet interesting people and 'people watch' with no two days being the same in terms of who comes through the Airport. Flight attendants also often state that they chose their job because of the variety of interesting people it enables them to meet.
